Youth football cheer champs

The Valley Youth Football League has a new set of champions; meet the Boron Sophomore Wildcats Cheerleaders; who won 1st place in cheer competition Nov. 15.

Football isn’t the only sport in Boron, the Wildcat cheerleaders brave the heat, cold, wind and sometimes injury to cheer on the football players every season and every season; just like the players, they too have an end of the year competition to see who is the best of the best.

The squad practice and perform at home and away games just like the football players and sometimes, the competition is fierce.

“I’m still in awe” says cheer coach Whitney Hill, “We’ve been chasing first place for four years now; of course, the wins aren’t what’s important and I truly believe that. I’ve never walked away from second place wins disappointed but each time we got second, I definitely got more eager to win first. These girls have worked so hard this year, I’m so proud of all their hard work and willingness to kick it into high gear when I needed them to and can’t believe we finally did it” Hill says.

The girls will be back for another year of cheer and competition when the new season starts. Congratulations to the Boron Youth Football Sophomore Wildcat Cheerleaders.
