The East Kern County high school fall sports have ended their second week and so far, so good for some area teams. Here’s the latest from around the world of high school fall sports; due to COVID-19 protocols, some of the fall sports teams have had to re-schedule some of their games however, we’re keeping track of the scores and standings as best we can so: on we go.

  BORON – The Bobcats JV and Varsity volleyball teams took time off due to COVID-19 protocols but will return on Sept. 7th when they take on the Desert Scorpions at home; in the meantime, the Bobcats football teams are gearing up for yet another road trip; this time to Helendale to take on Riverside Prep; scores and standings in our next report.

  CALIF. CITY – The Ravens JV and Varsity volleyball teams are slated to travel to Rosamond on Sept. 7th where they take on the Runners in league play while the Ravens JV and Varsity football teams host Foothill High on Sept. 3rd (Homecoming): scores and standings in our next report.

  DESERT – The Scorpions JV and Varsity volleyball teams hosted the Antelope Valley Antelopes on Aug. 30th in their season opener where the JV team came away with a win by a final score of 2-0 in 2 sets (25-17 and 25-16) and the Varsity team came away with a win by a final score of 3-0 in 3 sets (25-17, 25-18 and 25-20); the Scorpions are scheduled to take on Boron on Sept. 7th. The Scorpions JV football team is scheduled to travel to Rosamond on Oct. 15th and the Varsity football team is scheduled to travel to Taft on Sept. 3rd according to MaxPreps: scores and standings in our next report.

  MOJAVE – The Mustangs Varsity volleyball team is scheduled to travel to Baker on Sept. 7th while the Varsity football team is slated to travel to Lancaster Baptist on Sept. 10th according to MaxPreps; scores and standings in our next report.

  ROSAMOND – The Runners JV and Varsity volleyball teams hosted Vasquez on Aug. 23rd where the JV team came away with a win by a final score of 2-0 in 2 sets (25-22 and 25-16); Player of the Match was #10 Kiley Perez, the Varsity team also came away with a win by a final score of 3-1 in 4 sets (25-10, 25-23, 25-17 and 17-25) Player of the Match was #7 Kaedance Collette. According to MaxPreps, the JV Runners travel to Antelope Valley on Sept. 8th and the Varsity Runners host Calif. City on Sept. 7th: the Runners Varsity football team hosted the Delano Tigers on Aug. 27th and came home with a huge loss by a final score of 47-0; both JV and Varsity teams are scheduled to play Vasquez on Sept. 10th according to MaxPreps: scores and standings in our next report.

  TEHACHAPI – The Warriors JV and Varsity football teams hosted the Golden West Trailblazers on Aug. 27th where the JV team came away with a win by a final score of 14-7; the Varsity team also came away with a win by a final score of 12-3, both teams host Burroughs High School on Sept. 3rd: scores and standings in our next report.
