CALIFORNIA CITY – The Ravens varsity soccer team suffered a couple setbacks last week at the hands of McAuliffe and North High.
The Ravens hosted the McAuliffe Mustangs on Monday of last week, and that meeting ended in a 5-1 loss for the Ravens and Coach McKern. That was followed two days later on Dec. 13, when the Ravens traveled to Bakersfield to challenge the North High Stars. At the buzzer the scoreboard read 5-2 with the Ravens falling to the Stars by 3 scores.
The Lady Ravens also fell to the Stars last Wednesday by an 8-0 score in Bakersfield. The Ravens soccer teams now post a record of 0-7 for the boys and 2-7 for the girls. Both teams were set to face Vasquez on Dec. 14.
Mojave is raking in some wins. The Mustangs did lose to Excelsior Charter last Saturday 4-0, but then came back to defeat Desert last week 5-1 on Tuesday. The Lady Mustangs are also on a roll, having defeated Avalon last Saturday 3-2, and then following that up with a win over Desert Tuesday 1-0. The Scorpions next play Palmdale Aerospace this Saturday in Palmdale.
The Boron Bobcats soccer team lost at Mammoth 9-0 last Monday. That was followed by another loss on Wednesday to Kern Valley 5-1. The Lady Cats also fell to Mammoth 9-0, and also to Kern Valley by a score yet to be posted. Boron next plays the California City Ravens in Boron on Dec. 18. Game time is at 3 p.m. for the girls and 5 p.m. for the boys.
The Roadrunners of Rosamond have been off playing in a tournament last week. The Runners lost three of the four games they played, but still managed to take down Taft 2-1. They lost to Wasco and Coalinga, both games 2-1, and also fell to Shafter on Saturday by a score of 1-0. The Runners were next to play Paraclete on Dec. 15 in Lancaster. The Lady Runners also played some tourney games last week, falling to Paraclete 1-0, and then to Mammoth 3-0. They then came back on the Dec. 13 and beat Paraclete 2-0.
