CALIFORNIA CITY – The California City High School Ravens have advanced to the second round of CIF Division 4 playoffs following a win over High Desert League rival Bishop Union High School Broncos on Wednesday. The Ravens will face the winner of the Sierra Pacific versus McFarland matchup tonight.
“They got us last time so it was nice to come out and play a little bit better and get the win against Bishop,” said Coach Shane Moore. “It’s kind of a league rivalry. I was kind of shocked that we drew a league opponent in the first round. But it is what it is and we made the best of it. I think we made too many mistakes tonight. We gave a lot of points away on the serve, and had some hitting errors. So there are some mechanical things we need to look back and talk about, but overall our serve also gained us a lot of points. Our hitters were really trying to locate and some of the errors came with them trying to hit with a purpose. So we’re looking forward to Tuesday. We’ve got some work to day, but we’re going to have to play much better. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the way we played.”
When it came down to the game point in the fourth set, Tayte Jones dove for the ball and sent it up for Abby Moore to send over the net to win the set and match for the Ravens and send them into round two of the CIF Central Section Division 4 playoffs.
