Lifelong Boron resident Patricia L. “Pat” Lacik passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 9, 2019.
Patricia, or as she was known to many people as “Aunt Pat”, “Pat” or “Granny Pat” was born on January 20, 1944 in Franklin, Pennsylvania to John and Jessie “Jay” Dugan. The family moved to Long Beach, California in the mid 1940’s then to the Boron area in the late 1940’s. Pat started Kindergarten at Gephart School in 1949 and left Desert High School in 1961.
Pat met Tom Lacik in 1961 and they were married shortly afterwards. The couple had 3 children then later divorced.
Throughout her years in Boron, Pat worked in numerous areas including Harper Lake and her most recent employment was at the Way Station in Kramer Junction where she worked for several years until her passing.
Pat loved being around her friends and family and was very close to several people in Boron. She had a great sense of humor and she always spoke her mind whether you wanted to hear it or not. She also adored her great-grandchildren and would boost about them all the time: showing pictures and telling stories about them.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Jessie “Jay” Dugan, her daughter Cindy Hurtz, her grandson Jeremy Lacik and her niece Kathy Ream.
Pat is survived by her daughter Sandi Lacik of Bakersfield and her son Tim Lacik of Boron, her grandchildren Michelle (Donovan) Payne of Bakersfield and Ryan Hurtz of Boron, her sister Margaret “Peggy” Brackett of Boron, her brothers Robert (Mary) Dugan and Tim (Kris) Dugan of Tehachapi, her nieces Laura (Gabriel) Brackett-Lyles of Fresno, Bridget O’Connor of Benicia and Patti Orr of Boron, 10 great-grandchildren and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews as well as very close friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the Boron Assembly of God Church, 12101 Roberts Avenue in Boron beginning at 11 a.m. and a potluck reception will be held afterwards.
