Glennda Phelps of California City, CA passed away on December 04,2019 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of Scott Phelps. They shared 51 years of marriage together.
Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, she was the daughter of Kathrine Schilling Dyck and lived in Weyburn, Canada with her grandparents until she was 16. She moved to California where she attended Beauty college. She then worked as a machinist at Seastrom Manufacturing and tended bar at night where she eventually met Scott and they married 2-1/2 weeks later. She began working at Barry Controls in Burbank, CA in 1987 and retired in 2017. She was a lifelong attendee of St. Francis Xavier Catholic church in Burbank, CA.
She enjoyed baking, crafts, shopping and most of all spending quality time with her 4 children, 2 step-children (spouses), 13 grandchildren (spouses), 6 step-grandchildren (spouses), 8 great grandchildren, 10 step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews , all of her honorary children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren, her lifelong friends from work and her amazing neighbors.
She will be remembered for smacking us kids & grandkids on the back of our heads when we did something out of line. We will also remember her scrunching her nose and sticking her tongue out as she had to watch Days of our Lives that she recorded daily. (She never missed it) and of course her ELVIS.
She is survived by her husband Scott Phelps, her 4 children Dawn Cerna, Shawn Phelps, Bobbi Oliver (David), Steve Phelps (Naomi), Her 2 stepchildren Scott Gilson (Kathy), Sherilynn Gilson, 19 grandchildren (spouses), 18 great grandchildren, sister Diana Dyck, brother Ed Guzman.
She was predeceased by Francis & Bertha Phelps (In laws), CR Holder (brother in law), Ginny Hill (sister in law), Marty Phelps (brother in law), Grandpa Bill.
Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday December 14, 2019 from 12pm-3pm at 8134 Bay Ave, California City, CA 93505.
In lieu of flowers may be sent to where her service will be held.
