Friends in high places

Artist Jedd Strange, seated, continues work on the mural on the side of Mission Bank in Mojave, along with assistant Wayne Baxter June 14. Originally started more than a year ago, work on the mural was suspended after Strange suffered injuries falling from a scaffold. The accident resulted in two shattered heels on his feet, leaving him in a wheel chair and unable to work on the mural for more than a year. Strange said he has only been back on his feet for about six months now, but is still able to climb scaffolding and continue work - albeit a bit slower.

The mural is being funded through Kern County’s Renewbiz Grant Program which assists organizations with the cost of developing or improving commercial and industrial districts within the unincorporated communities of East Kern County. Strange said he was very appreciative of Mission Bank being understanding while he recovered from his injuries.
