Kern County Fire

ROSAMOND – One person was found dead following a fire in the 1500 Block of Franklin Avenue in Rosamond Monday.

Frank Joseph O’Sullivan, 56, died in the fire, according to the Bakersfield Californian.

O’Sullivan died at the scene, the report said. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.

According to a press release from the Kern County Fire Department, crews began responding at 4:44 a.m. Monday and upon arrival found a 250-square foot detached garage structure fully engulfed with heavy smoke and flames. Firefighters began an aggressive attack on the fire with reports of a possible occupant inside. Due to heavy fire conditions, fire fighting had to be done from the exterior, next in crews took action on protecting adjacent exposed residences.

Although the fire was knocked down in a matter of minutes, one person was found dead inside during a search.

The fire was contained to the structure of origin and did not spread to the main house, the cause is still under investigation. There were no injuries to firefighters.
