KRAMER JUNCTION - The weather was picture perfect for the 4th Annual Darr’s Memorial Car Show and Gas Bash, held at the Darr’s Antiques Store on May 25 and started around 9 a.m. Classics from all over the area came out to support the Darr family and to catch up with old friends as well as make new acquaintances. A first for the show was the American Riders Motorcycle Club who came to support the family as well.
Food, fun, classic cars and some new additions were available for everyone; grilled hamburgers with all the fixings and Mrs. Darr greeted everyone who came out for the event. Vendors from all over also came out with their classic signs and memorabilia for sale or trade. Folks were also treated to the many antiques available at the store.
The Darr’s Memorial Car Show and Gas Bash is a scholarship fundraiser that the Darr family started in memory of their son Dennis Darr Jr. who was a teacher and coach at Boron High School. Dennis Darr loved track and field and coached for many years before his passing. The Darr family decided to hold a yearly car show in his memory and all the proceeds would go towards a scholarship in his name for top track athletes who also excel in the classroom.
The car show and gas bash is held every year on the Saturday before Memorial Day so travelers as well as local residents can come and see a display of classic cars, newer cars, classic military vehicles, classic gas and highway signs and gas pumps and enjoy some good old fashion music and fun.
