CALIFORNIA CITY – Interim California City Chief of Police Tim O’Quinn resigned from city employment Thursday. O’Quinn had been interim chief since the retirement of Chief Eric Hurtado Oct. 9.
O’Quinn could not be reached for comment, but City Manager Anna Linn confirmed he had left employment with the city. CCPD Sgt. Shannon Hayes has now been appointed interim chief of police.
O’Quinn – formerly a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detective – had originally been brought into the department to help with investigations into eight unsolved crimes in the city. His work on those cases was recently featured in a segment on the NBC news magazine television show Dateline.
Linn said investigation on those cases would continue.
