Arrest made

CALIFORNIA CITY – California City Police Department arrested the truck driver involved in a fatal traffic accident that occurred on June 3. The accident involved a tractor-trailer and a motorcycle. The driver of the truck, 64 year-old Manuel Valenzuela, told investigators he was driving into California City on Neuralia Road when a motorcycle swerved and struck the front of his truck head-on. The motorcyclist, later identified as  47 year-old Kyra Adams, was killed instantly.

Police traffic investigators determined that the motorcyclist did not go head-on with the truck but instead had broken down on the side of the road. The truck, driven by Valenzuela, did not slow down but instead rear ended the motorcyclist, killing Adams.

Valenzuela was arrested at his California City home without incident and booked into Kern County Jail.
