The Kern County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Section will be holding a Missing Persons Day event. We will be working to connect families with law enforcement to bring missing people back home, and to bring closure for families of the unidentified.
One of those unidentified is Jane Doe 1978. In 1978, the body of an unidentified female was found in a grape vineyard in Arvin. The female had been deceased for several months. She was found wearing two white metal necklaces around her neck (one with a round religious medallion). She was young, estimated as a teenager to young adult female. Attached is a reconstruction of what Jane Doe may have looked like. Anyone with information should contact the Kern County Sheriff's Office, reference case number L782658 or the Kern County Coroner, reference case number C522-78.
The Missing Persons Day event is November 9, 2019 from 10:00 a.m - 3:00 p.m. at the Kern County Superintendent of Schools on 2000 K Street, Bakersfield. If you are the family of a missing person, please bring ID photos of missing person, two of the missing person's closely-related family members from the mother's side for collection of identification cheek swabs for DNA, as well as any X-rays, dental or medical records.
A portion of the event will be open to the public, including the Child ID Unit and booths including NaMus.
