BORON – Boron resident, students, faculty and dignitaries gathered inside the Boron Junior Senior High School gymnasium for the annual eighth grade promotion on the evening of June 6. The ceremony got underway around 5 p.m. and featured a packed gym.

The Boron Bobcat band directed by KC Casel performed Pomp and Circumstance while 44 eighth graders marched up the aisle and took their place on bleachers which were extended for the ceremony then Principal David Wiggs introduced Carolina Jauregui who is eighth grade vice president to lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Wiggs then introduced Eeighth-Grade President Dylan Dadey who came forward and introduced the Muroc Joint Unified School District board members who are: Superintendent Kevin Cordes, President Sherman Burkhead, Assistant Superintendent Brent Tan and board trustees  Deandra Davies and Matt Carter.

After introductions,  Wiggs then went on to present awards; eight students were presented awards from   Wiggs and Robert Ferguson who is the academic advisor at the school presented three students with the Timothy Hayes Financial, Crown Capital Securities Most Improved Student Award. A photo op of the entire class was then given while “High Hopes” by Panic at the Disco was played.

After the photo op,  Wiggs presented the Boron Junior Senior High School Eighth Grade Class of 2019 Cordes accepted them then it was time for presentation of promotion certificates.

Certificates were presented to each eighth-grader as Ferguson called their name; Burkhead, Carter and Davies took turns presenting the certificates. The class marched out to the Boron Bobcat band playing the “Fight Song” which ended the promotion.
