Anyone wishing to be considered to fill the vacant seat on City Council will have until July 18 to express interest. Council will choose a replacement for the seat of Tami Marie Johnson during a special meeting on July 20.
After much discussion and public comment at the regular meeting on Tuesday, council said they would accept letters of intent and resumes from those wishing to be considered for the post until close of business on Thursday, July 18.
A meeting will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 20 for council to interview the candidates and allow candidates to make a three- to five-minute speech.
The meeting will be held at City Hall, 21000 Hacienda Blvd. and will be open to the public. The meeting will also be live streamed on the California City Meetings Facebook page: www.facebook.com/CalCityMeetings/
The action is being taken in lieu of holding a special election at a potential cost of $25,000 to $50,000 or simply appointing the next top vote-getter from the previous election.
