On September 8, 2013, California City Police Officers were dispatched to the 9600 block of Susan Ave regarding a victim who had been stabbed in the neck. Officers arrived within minutes, but the suspect had already fled the scene. Officers immediately notified medical personnel and had the victim air lifted to a nearby trauma center. A crime scene was established and California City Police Detectives later arrived to process the evidence. As the investigation unfolded, Detectives were able to identify 28 year old Alberto Lizarraga as the suspect. Lizarraga is currently on California State Parole after being released from prison where he served multiple years for Assault with a Deadly Weapon after having stabbed a man several years ago. During the investigation, Detectives learned Lizarraga had been detained by a neighboring law enforcement agency. Based on the above information, California City Police Officers responded to the allied agency and took custody of Lizarraga. Detectives interviewed Lizarraga and charged Lizarraga with Attempted Murder and Assault with a Deadly. The suspected weapon was discovered at the scene of the crime along with other incriminating evidence. Lizarraga was subsequently transported to the Kern County Jail Facility in Bakersfield for processing. The victim is expected to make a complete recovery.
